About The Artist

I carry my cameras with me at all times. I love all types of subjects and the way in which they reflect their natural settings, and that includes plants, animals, cool structures, landscapes and people! The color, drama or composition of a subject is usually what catches my eye. If I am driving, I find a way to stop or back track to capture the photo. When I am out in nature on foot, I try to have the camera ready for any photo opportunity. I’m always looking for the best light, angle and eye-catching point of interest.

My grandfather and my father were both professional photographers. I grew up working in my father’s darkroom during the days of black and white photography. My father spent a lot of time explaining composition and lighting to me as we worked together to develop and print his photos. I always loved watching the developing photos appear before my eyes and the excitement of removing them from the solution at just the right moment. Digital photography has added even another dimension to the art.

I got my first camera – a Brownie Starflash – when I was 8 years old and I still have some of the first photos I took with it. I’m happy to say that I have improved.

I also work in stained glass and often design pieces based on my photography. Please contact me if you are interested in a stained glass piece.
